Carving Pumpkins

One of my all time favorite Halloween traditions is carving Pumpkins. As a child and teenager I remember looking forward to this part of Halloween every year. I just love spending time with family and seeing how everyones pumpkins turn out. My kids are still too little to really help me carve pumpkins but they did contribute this year by telling me what they wanted their pumpkins to look like. They decided that they wanted one "happy" pumpkin and one "scary" pumpkin. These are the results:

Ella with the "scary" pumpkin, you can tell that it is "scary" by its "scary" teeth

This is the "happy" pumpkin, the "happy" pumpkin has a bow because it is also a girl pumpkin (this one was Tori's)

Landon and Tori with their pumpkins (these darn kids will not look at the camera when I want them to)

Maybe one year I will pull off something fancy like this

I'm impressed. The pumpkins look great! Don't know why, but I've never enjoyed carving pumpkins. I do like looking at other people's works of art though!

Oh, and I love the kids' shirts.

So much fun, I have to tell you that every day I have been to the store in the past week or so I have had to fight back the urge to buy a pumpkin and carve it....I love it too, maybe it is more the pumpkin seeds I like I don't know, but it looks like the kids had a great time!

great job. their shirts are sooo cute! I think dan and I will carve our pumpkin next week one of the days for family night or something,.. maybe we never will carve it,.. hahahah. It'd be better for cooking the pumpkin afterwards if we don't. haha.

I agree, pumpkins are one of the best parts of Halloween. I haven't done one in years--I need to get on the ball.

What a good idea to take pictures of the kids with their pumpkins.

Your scary pumpkin is awesome!! I love that you qualified it as scary by its scary teeth! I can't believe how big all your kids are getting. It makes me sad that we aren't there (yet) to play!!

Okay so like today I went to the store and out front where they had all their pumpkins on Saturday there was like only 10 pumpkins left, so I went over and found a big one that still had it's steam and bought it, I just had to do it, we are going to carve it before trick or treating on Friday, I am so excited! I was also wondering, since you didn't mention it when you called Sunday, how your Halloween Party went on Saturday, did you end up getting rained out or did it turn out after all?

The only thing I don't like about our blogs is there is not a place for emails, so I have to do it randomly where it doesn't belong, anyways I really want to join your recipe exchange and put on some recipes, but I can't figure out how, I am thinking it is because I am not a team member so I can't get to the place you add a post, if you care if I add some please let me know how to go about this! Love you, Mom

I tried to see if I could add you Auntie but I don't have rights, so KT has to. I'm sure she'll do it today or something. :)
