Goodbye Elkhart, Hello Vegas

Torilynn, Ellalyn, and I are headed to the airport here in about 20 minutes. I am sad to be leaving Jared for three and a half weeks but I am super excited to see family and friends. I am most excited to see Landon. I can't believe that it has been 4 weeks since I last saw him, way too long. It will be nice to have my boy around, I have really missed him!
I will be sure to keep you all updated on the adventures that we have while in Vegas!

A Visit from Grammy

Last Thursday Grammy (Jared's Mom) flew in for a visit. It was SO nice having her here. She was such a great help around the house and with the kids and the kids obviously loved getting to spend some time with their Grammy. We also had a ton of fun! Jared's mom is so fun to talk to and we able to do a little shopping while she was here too. She took the kids to the park, the Zoo, and Amish Acres which gave me some one on one time with Ella. I am so thankful to have such a great Mother-in-law and I was very sad to see her go today.
Landon and Jared at the Zoo. From what I hear Landon was not a fan of the Pony ride and cried pretty the whole time. What can I say my boy is a scaredy cat.
Grammy and Tori at the Park. I am so appreciative of all the attention that Grammy gave Tori. Tori has had a hard time adjusting to having a baby sister and having Grammy here helped a lot.
Landon pushing Grammy and Tori in the swing.
Fun at the park!
Cute kids with their cute Grammy! The girls love Grammy.
In other news not only did we say goodbye to Grammy today but we also said goodbye to Landon. Landon is flying back to Vegas with Grammy and he will be there for 4weeks before I fly out with the girls for my sisters wedding. I have not been away from Landon for more then a few days at a time ( while in the hospital after having Tori and Ella) and I am so sad that I won't see him for so long. I know he is in good hands though and that he will enjoy getting spoiled and being the center of attention in Vegas. I really am sad for Jared though. He will not be able to come out to Vegas with the rest of us and since we will not return home until the 24th of August Jared will have to go almost two months without seeing his son. We love Landon so much and it will be a little sad around our house without him.

We have a date....

Sorry I haven't updated this thing in a while. I really have not been feeling great and I have been so tired and lazy. I know those are lame excuses but oh well.
This last week has been pretty fun. On Saturday Landon and I went on a mother/son date. We went to Applebe's for lunch and then we went to the mall and made a puppy at Build-a- Bear. We had a lot of fun and it was nice to spend some one on one time with my little boy.
In other news I had a doctors appointment today and we set up my c-section date and time. If everything goes as planned we will be welcoming a new little Peterson on June 5th at around 11:00 am. That is 2 weeks from tomorrow, yikes! I am ready not to be pregnant any more but I don't know how ready I am to have 3 kiddos. It is a little too late to change my mind though so ready or not here we go :).

Checkup

Today the kids had a check-upLandon at 3 years 4 months old is weighing in at a hefty 27 lbs and he is 36 inches tall. He is still tiny but I was super excited that he finally hit the 3ft mark and that he gained 2lbs and an inch and a half in the last 6 months. I think that is good growth for a 3 year old.At a year old, Torilynn is weighing in at 19 lbs 3 oz and is 28.5 inches tall. She is a great size for her age. She is slowly catching up to her brother in size but still has a bit of a ways to go . We always warn Landon that he needs to be nice to Tori because one day she will be bigger then him and she will be able to fight back :).

Pregnancy Update and other Random Stuff

I am just about 30 weeks along in my pregnancy. I can't believe that in a little over 2 months I will be having another baby. I am very excited but also very nervous as I have heard that the adjustment to 3 kids can be the hardest. In not so great news I found out yesterday that I failed my one hour glucose test for gestational diabetes. This means that I have to go into tomorrow and do the fasting 3 hour glucose test. This is the first time I have ever failed the one hour test and I am not looking forward to having to do the 3 hour test. I really hope that I pass it and that I don't in fact have Gestational Diabetes. Wish me luck....
On a happier note things here are going well. The kids are doing great and I love watching them interact with each other. On Sunday the Primary Chorister asked if I would go into Nursery and do singing time with the k ids. I had Torilynn and when I got into the Nursery they were still eating their snack. I decided to wait and a little girl came up to Tori and started to play with her. Landon looked right at this little girl and said "Cora you be nice to baby Tori" Cora wasn't doing anything that wasn't nice to Tori but it sure was cute to see Landon so protective of his little sister. Also during singing time Landon sang "Jesus wants Me for a Sunbeam" at the top of his lungs. It was very cute and I hope he keeps it up.
Here are some pictures of the kidos:
Tori is learning how to drink out of a straw sippy cup. I can't believe that she will be a year old next month. The time has really flown!

Yesterday was a pretty nice day so I took the kids to play outside for a little while.
Landon had a great time playing with his ball. He really liked kicking it around the yard. I just had to make sure that he stayed away from the street.

Landon also had fun "raking" the leaves that have been hidden under the snow for the last 4 months.

Tori just enjoyed being outside.
She also really liked crawling around in the grass.
It is a good thing that we got to play outside a little yesterday because today it is raining. I would complain but I'm just happy it isn't snowing :).

Goodbye Winter!

It is March and I think that by the time March rolls around winter weather should be done and over. Apparently someone doesn't agree with me as it is still cold and snowy here in Indiana but as a way to try and will the end of winter I am writing this farewell to winter post.
I don't hate snow I really don't. There are tons of fun things to do in the snow like build a snowman (see pictures below), have a snowball fight, go sledding, etc. I am just so sick of the snow! I am so ready to kiss the snow goodbye until the end of the year!

Landon was so excited to show me the snowman he and Jared made.
My boys are so cute!

Here are some pictures of the new floating shelves I put up. I have been wanting to put some shelves up to display the digital picture frame I got for Christmas and some other pictures and I finally got around to it. I really like the way it turned out.

Poor Boy!

This afternoon as I handed Landon his sandwich for lunch I wasn't looking and accidentally hit him in the eye with his sandwich. He started crying and said that his eye hurt. I apologized and sent him to the table to eat his sandwich. He kept on crying and wouldn't eat his sandwich so I sent him to his room to calm down. After a couple minutes I told him to come back out to eat his sandwich. He came out, sat down at the table, and continued to cry. At this point I was thinking to myself "Seriously I barely touched you with that sandwich what is your problem." He then started saying something about his eyes. Well I finally looked over at him only to realize that his eyes were all red and puffy and they were surrounded by little bumps that looked like welts. I started to freak out a little bit as Jared was gone at school with the car and our phone line had not been working for the last day and a half. I decided to try the phone with little hope that it would actually work. I lucked out as the phone company had actually sent someone over to fix the phone line way earlier then expected (they were not supposed to come out until tomorrow around noon). I called my Mom to ask what to do. I had no idea what had caused this reaction around his eyes and I was worried that I had caused it by accidentally hitting him in the face with his sandwich. My mom asked me if he had been playing with anything new or if we had anything new around the house that might have caused an allergic reaction. I tried to think of what it could be but nothing was coming to me. Then it hit me; this morning we received our feather mattress topper in the mail. Landon was in our room when I put it on our bed. Apparently Landon is allergic to our feather mattress topper. Since Landon has eczema I know that he is likely to have other allergies but we really haven't had too many problems with them so far so it never occurred to me that he might have an allergy to feathers. My mom told me to give him some benadryl and to keep an eye on him but he should be fine. We always have benadryl around the house but today we were out. Having no car and no way to contact Jared I decided to give our neighbor down the street a call. Sister Brown is an older lady in our ward who has been very kind to us since we moved here. She is a nurse and she was nice enough to run to the store and pick up both benadryl and clariton (the pharmacist told her this would be better for someone Landon's age) for us. Sister brown really saved the day and Landon is now looking much better. I am sad that Landon is allergic to our bed topper but I am so thankful that our phone started working in the nick of time and that we have such kind and selfless ward members who are willing to take the time and offer service whenever possible. Here are some pictures of Landon with puffy face:

Best Video Game Ever!

I hate video games. I really just don't like them. I have told Jared on a few occasions that if he is going to waste his money on video games he should a least get a cool one like Dance Dance Revolution. Well last night on his way home from school he stopped by Target and picked up DDR. It is actually a really, really fun game. It gets you moving and it is fun to watch other people play. I am not very good yet but Jared is and as you can see from the above video Landon is great !;)

Landon's Birthday and other stuff

Landon's Birthday ended up being really fun. First we took him to McDonalds for lunch (which he thought was the best thing ever). Later we had cake and ice cream and opened gifts. Landon was also very popular and got numerous phone calls, it was so nice for everyone to call, he loved it! We decided to forgo an actual Birthday party this year as it is really too cold to do anything outside and our house is too small to have a party in. It seems as though Landon knows that because he is three he supposed to act different. Unfortunately for us his acting different isn't such a good thing. He has become very possessive of his toys lately and will not let Tori play or even look at them. Hopefully this is just a phase that will pass soon. I guess you get the bad with the good as your kids grow up.

Landon is Three!

Landon at a few days old
Landon's 1st Birthday

Landon in the hospital with an oversized ear

Landon a few days ago

3 years ago today my life changed forever. I became a mother. After spending 6 weeks in the hospital and having various complications during my pregnancy I was ready for him to come. Landon was born at 5:38 pm weighing in at a tiny 4lbs 13 oz. He was beautiful and perfect. I knew that having a baby would change my life but I guess until you become a mother you never truly know what that means.
Landon has been such a joy in my life. Sometimes I think that because I had a hard pregnancy with Landon Heavenly Father decided to send me the sweetest child he had. Landon has taught and shown me so much. Because of him I love Jared more. I love to watch Jared as a Dad and I love the person that he has become since he has become a father. Landon has made me love and appreciate my own parents more. I never realized how much my own parents must love me until I became a mother and felt that love for myself. Landon has taught how to love Torilynn and any other children I may have. Having Landon has given me a small glimpse at what Heavenly Fathers love for me must be like. Before Landon I never understood what it was like to love someone unconditionally.
I really can’t believe that Landon is three today. The last three years have had its ups and downs but I wouldn’t trade them for the world. I love to watch Landon grow and learn new things and I am so proud of the person who he is becoming. Happy Birthday Landon!

My Favorite things about Landon...

5. He thinks he is so sneaky. The other night, well after he was put down to bed, Landon walks out into the living room with the biggest smile on his face. He starts playing around like we would never notice that he left his room when he was supposed to be in bed. Jared and I couldn't help but to laugh as we sent him back to bed. It was like he was thinking "I bet if I just walk out there Mom and Dad will never realize I am supposed to be up."
4. He is so polite. He always says please and thank you and he always asks if we are OK if he thinks something is wrong. If some one coughs (including himself) he will say "bless you" and the other day I was in his way and I hear " excuse me" as he tries to move past me.
3. He loves his Sister. Torilynn is Landon's best friend. He loves to "hold her" and play with her. Whenever I put Tori down for a nap Landon goes into her room and says "good night Tori love you." It is so sweet.
2. He is a great dancer and singer. There a few things that are more entertaining then watching Landon dance and listening to Landon sing. He loves to sing the songs he learns in nursery and whenever we listen to music he starts to dance.
1. He is always Happy. Well not always but I would say 95% of the time Landon is happy. He is always smiling and so loving. He is easy to forgive and in a lot of ways he has taught me why we need to become childlike, like it talks about in the scriptures.
